My name is Ms. Morales, I am the World Language teacher at Washington Irving School. I teach Spanish to Pre-K, Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade students.
I would like to share a little background information about me. I earned my Master of Education from National Louis University and I received my Bachelor of Arts from Northern Illinois University, where I majored in Spanish, Marketing, and Journalism. I am a professional licensed educator in Illinois and hold endorsements in both World Language/Spanish and Language Arts. My personal mission is to enhance my students' ability to communicate in both English and Spanish and to advance their academic learning abilities. Learning a foreign language, particularly Spanish, will develop my students’ language skills and increase their comprehension of English literacy and grammar, which leads to higher scores on Standardized Tests.
Why is it important to learn Spanish? Spanish is the second international business language in the world and is also the second most spoken language in the world. This is why being able to speak Spanish in the United States is so important. Our World Language Program is designed to provide our students with the competitive edge they will need for future college admission and job placement in a global society and economy. Our students will learn Spanish in rich and varied language subjects including Social Studies, cultural activities, through research presentations, song, and dance. While in class, students will be expected to mainly use Spanish to communicate. This is important because the best way to retain the language is by practicing and engaging in conversation.
I welcome the opportunity to meet you and answer any questions you may have about our World Language Program. I can be reached by phone by calling 773-534-7295, and or by email email@example.com I am also including a link to the Impact Parent Portal because this is where I will be updating students' grades on a weekly basis. This is the link https://parent.cps.k12.il.us/pc/default.aspx and please let me know if you have any questions.
